About Us
Rhyl Education and Community Centre is a registered charity working with children, young people and families in Rhyl.
Who we are
We are a small charity based on Vale Road in Rhyl, run by three trustees and around ten volunteers. We were registered with the Charity Commission in January 2021, though the centre itself has served the local community for far longer.
Who we serve
We work with children and young people in Rhyl and the surrounding parts of Denbighshire. Many of the families we support face language barriers that affect how well their children do at school, and our classes exist to close that gap. We serve a diverse local community, including Turkish-speaking families.
How we work
Everything we run comes back to our registered charitable objects. We provide supplementary education and homework support, we teach language skills, and we give young people constructive activities outside school hours. Our work is delivered by volunteers who live in and understand this community.
Our centre
The centre occupies a converted stone chapel on Vale Road, providing around 305 square metres of usable space across classrooms, a large hall and community facilities.
Our charitable objects
For the public benefit to promote the education of the public in the Wales in such ways as the charity trustees think fit, including by: (a) assisting in supplementary education, the provision of homework clubs and language classes for those whose education is impacted due to language barriers; (b) developing their mental, physical and moral capabilities through leisure time activities.Registered governing document, Charity Commission
